The Famos transformation Pokemon will be appearing more often in Tera Raid Battle this weekend.

Competitive Pokemon battles are a very fun but complex ordeal in the community. Since Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the latest entry in the series, many players are still coming up with new teams and strategies daily. In order to breed Pokemon efficiently, many trainers have a set of Ditto to use for this specific purpose, so catching this Pokemon is a crucial part of the breeding process.

For a limited amount of time, gamers will have a chance to catch a 5-IV Ditto in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet by participating in Tera Raid Battles. This guide will explain everything there is to know about this event and how to catch this imposter Pokemon.

How To Participate In The Ditto Tera Raid Event

This is a 5-Star Tera Raid event, which means players that have beaten the main story of the game will be able to encounter this powerful Ditto. The event will be live from April 7 at 00:00 UTC until April 9 at 23:59 UTC, at the same time as the Samurott Tera Raid event, so players might come face to face with this Pokemon as well while searching for Ditto. Unlike the Ditto Tera Raids, the Samurott Raid is a 7-Star Tera Raid. This means that players that haven’t completed gym rematches, the Academy Ace tournament, and fought ten 4-Star Raids won’t have to worry about encountering Samurott.

Ditto can be a tricky Pokemon to come face to face with during a Tera Raid Battle. It only knows the move Transform, which guarantees that it will transform into one of its opposing Pokemon during the Tera Raid Battle. Here are two strategies to take down Ditto, whether attempting the Tera Raid alone or with friends.

Solo Battle

Transform allows Ditto to accurately copy everything about its target except its HP stat. Players can take advantage of this in order to defeat Ditto in a solo match. Ditto’s base HP is pretty low at only 48 HP, so if players bring in a Pokemon with HP as its best stat (Blissey, for example), then Ditto will basically turn into a much weaker version of that Pokemon. This means that it will likely lose in a 1v1 or with only the help of the AI.

Squad Battle

If the player is trying to take down Ditto with the help of friends, victory will be even easier. Most of the time, Ditto will transform into the Pokemon that the host of the Tera Raid battle is sending out. So, if the host has a weak Pokemon such as a level 1 Magikarp that only knows Splash, the Ditto will be harmless during the battle and can be easily taken down by the other team members.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available for Nintendo Switch.
